State Representative Scott Dianda (D-Calumet) hosted four students from Michigan Technological University at the state Capitol on Tuesday as part of Graduate Education Week in Michigan.

“We are lucky in the 110th District to have one of the best engineering schools in the country in Michigan Tech,” said Dianda. “It was an honor to play host to these bright, young minds and talk to them about their research and the importance of a quality education.”

Dianda spent the day with Melanie Talaga from Negaunee, Amberlee Haselhuhn from East Jordan, Jennifer Fuller from Freeland, Michael Premer from Shelby and Director of Graduate Marketing and Advancement, Jacque Smith

“Ensuring that students are able to receive a quality, affordable education is key to Michigan’s economic recovery,” continued Dianda. “I am excited to see what the future holds for these Huskies and will use what we discussed in fighting for better funding for higher education in Michigan.”
