LANSING — Today, State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) received his committee assignments for the 2017-18 legislative term. Hammoud will serve on the House Committees on Health Policy, Tax Policy and Michigan Competitiveness.

“I’m pleased to receive my committee assignments, and I’m eager to get to work on these important topics,” Hammoud said. “I am a strong advocate for tax equity, and I am excited to work for positive tax reforms that would benefit Michigan residents. I plan to use my health policy background to review best practices and to push for health reforms such as access to and affordability of care.”

Hammoud earned his bachelor’s in science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and his master’s in public health from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. As a national and state health policy expert, Hammoud previously worked as a professional health care adviser for Henry Ford Health System and Health Alliance Plan.

“I will emphasize strengthening communities and the middle class through impactful tax and health reforms.” Hammoud said. “I’m ready to work diligently with my colleagues, in both chambers and on both sides of the aisle, to make Michigan healthier and a more tax-equitable state.”
