Statement from state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) on the Executive Order creating a Voter Fraud Commission:

Friday, May 12, 2017
“With the creation of the misleading ‘Voter Fraud Commission,’ President Trump yet again tells voters to do as he says, not as he’s done. His most recent executive order to create a commission to investigate the essentially nonexistent voter fraud will be led by Kansas’ Kris Kobach, one of the few secretaries of state who has been sued four times — and lost each time — because he’s the one suppressing the vote. This executive order is a smokescreen for policies that will make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to vote, simply because the president cannot accept that he lost the country’s popular vote last November. These actions prove why we need the bipartisan Voter Bill of Rights in the Michigan Constitution that my colleagues and I introduced earlier in May. It is absolutely imperative that we the people are free to make our voices heard in the voting booth.”
