Rick Snyder has failed to contain the crisis in this agency and was finally forced to make drastic changes this week because of a court settlement. The people who failed our residents should be held accountable and relying on the services of the Unemployment...

“It is shameful that Michigan is one of only two states that allow the Governor and legislature to hide behind a veil of secrecy – it is time to shed a light on the back room deals and inner workings of our state government so that politicians can be held accountable when they put special interests ahead of the people they are supposed to serve. While this legislation is a step forward, Democrats know that...

“As the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference anticipates little growth in the coming years, we must ensure that we make wise decisions about where that money should go. Instead of entertaining proposals that would dramatically reduce state revenue, these dollars must be invested where they matter most: better funding for our schools, job training for hardworking Michiganders and community funding for police and fire protection. We must repair our decaying infrastructure and end the humanitarian crisis...

“Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Agency has wrongly accused Michigan workers of unemployment fraud more than 20,000 times since 2013, causing untold heartache and anxiety for working families across the state. Instead of promptly addressing the problem, Gov. Rick Snyder waited until today to hold the agency’s director accountable. The Snyder administration's lack of urgency resolving this problem is deeply disappointing. Michiganders count on their government to act in their best interest, and...
