Housing Summit: Saturday, May 20, with special guest Councilmember Mary Sheffield. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at University of Detroit – Mercy Law School, 651 E. Jefferson Ave. in Detroit. Attend the summit to learn about topics like affordable housing, gentrification, tenants' rights and foreclosure prevention. The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Free parking is on site across from the law school on the Larned side of the building.

Become a Citizen Day: Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1927 Rosa Parks Blvd in Detroit. Guests include Councilmember Raquel Castañeda-López, and other community organizations. This is your opportunity to get assistance applying for U.S. citizenship.

Coffee Hour: Friday, June 16, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Red Hook Café, 8025 Agnes St. in Detroit. Join us to share your ideas, concerns and questions, and hear updates from my office.

June 29: River Rouge and DTE Energy Forum

On Thursday, June 29, I am holding a River Rouge and DTE Energy Forum. It will take place from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at St. John AME Church, 505 Beechwood St. in River Rouge. Come hear a panel discuss updates regarding the closing of the DTE Energy coal-fired power plant, the impact on our air quality, the impact on property taxes, and the Environmental Protection Agency brownfield grant that Wayne County will be implementing to remediate and redevelop the project area. Bring your questions, ideas, and concerns! Panelists include River Rouge Mayor Mike Bowdler, Stephanie Cayce from the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation, and Regina Strong from the Beyond Coal Campaign of the Sierra Club. DTE Energy representatives have been invited to attend with information and to listen and answer questions.
