DETROIT — A bipartisan group of state representatives this week took a two-day tour of locations in Detroit and Dearborn. The trip was organized to give the legislators a better understanding of the economic developments taking place in the cities and the cultural impacts of the distinctive local communities.

LANSING — State Rep. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) welcomed Gov. Rick Snyder’s decision to delay the School Reform Office’s (SRO) decision to close schools in the city of Detroit. Rick Snyder yesterday to discuss issues related to the School Reform Office, which distributed a letter earlier this year warning parents and administrators that their schools were slated for closure at the end of the year. Detroit Caucus members and other legislators have advocated aggressively to prevent the closures, which would place a significant burden on families across the state.
