I totally support and stand behind the citizens of Flint, currently enmeshed in this devastating water crisis. I firmly believe the Emergency Manager law should be repealed immediately, as it has stripped the democratic rights of our voters in a number of communities, and kept their voices from being heard.

LANSING – State Representative Wendell Byrd (D-Detroit) today said that Detroit’s future is also tied to the Port of Detroit, and he looks forward to working with his colleagues on ways to grow and improve Michigan’s exports. Byrd was one of three members of the House Commerce and Trade Committee who were appointed by Committee Chairman Joe Graves (R- Argentine Township) to serve on the special Michigan Ports Workgroup.

LANSING – State Representative and Detroit Caucus Chairman Brian Banks (D-Detroit) joined with the Detroit Caucus members today to say that they do not support the no-fault insurance changes that passed out of the Senate in Senate Bills 248-249 last week. The House Insurance Committee met today at 8:15 a.m. to discuss the bills. The committee’s regularly scheduled weekly meeting time is on Thursday, so it appears that the bills are on a fast track...
