Biography For Rep. Brinks

State Representative Winnie Brinks is serving her third term in the Michigan House of Representatives representing Michigan’s 76th House District, which comprises part of the city of Grand Rapids in Kent County. During her second term, Brinks served on the House Education, Health Policy and Tourism and Recreation committees, as well as serving as the minority vice chair of the Workforce and Talent Development committee.

Before serving in the Legislature, Brinks worked as a caseworker at The Source where she worked with businesses and nonprofits to improve workplaces while helping companies grow and retain employees. She has spent more than two decades in nonprofit organizations and education settings, working to remove barriers to success for school children, parents, and families.

Brinks is a graduate of Calvin College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a concentration in sociology. She lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Steve. They have three children: Olivia, Annalise and Emma.
