LANSING — State Representative Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit), along with other women of color representatives, hosted a group of high school girls at the Capitol today to show them the Legislature in action.

“I’m very glad that we could offer this experience to these high school girls,” said Chang. “It’s important that they see elected women of color in action so that they know that they have many options open to them when they decide on a career,” said Chang.

The young women shadowed the legislators for the day and joined them on the House floor for part of House session in the afternoon. Other participating representatives were: Reps. Daniela Garcia (R-Holland), LaTanya Garrett (D-Detroit) Sherry Gay-Dagnogo (D-Detroit), Erika Geiss (D-Taylor), Leslie Love (D-Detroit), Vanessa Guerra (D-Saginaw) and Alberta Tinsley Talabi (D-Detroit).
