LANSING, Mich. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Representative Kelly Breen (D-Novi) issued the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address, in which she spoke about Michigan’s recovery plan for the COVID-19 pandemic:

“I am ready to set aside partisan politics and bring the relief working families need and deserve. Collectively, we can heal our state from the physical, emotional, and financial duress the pandemic has caused Michigan residents. There are several issues in need of attention, whether it’s providing the funding needed for education to get our students back in the classroom safely, lowering the cost of prescription drugs so families aren’t forced to choose between filling a medication and making ends meet or keeping essential workers safe while we strive to vaccinate 50,0000 Michiganders a day.

Governor Whitmer’s leadership has helped us lead 6th in the nation for the number of COVID vaccinations administered. While this is a great start, increased efforts toward vaccine distribution is critical for a brighter Michigan.”
