📰 E-newsletter | Aug. 26, 2025 | Rep. Matt Longjohn

Hello Friends,

As summer winds down, I wanted to share a few opportunities to connect with me across the district. Whether you prefer a Friday morning coffee or a Monday evening chat, I’m hosting a variety of events to make sure you have a chance to share your thoughts, ask questions and hear updates on what I’ve been working on.

For those who can’t make weekday events, I’m excited to host a Walking Office Hour on Saturday, Sept. 6at Portage Celery Flats. It’s a great chance to enjoy the outdoors while we talk about the issues that matter most to you.

While things have been a bit quiet from Lansing lately, the in-district work period has been anything but. My team and I have been knocking on thousands of doors, hearing directly from constituents about everything from rising costs to power outages. It’s great to hear directly from neighbors about the issues you face every day.

You can find additional details on all upcoming events on my Facebook page and website.

See you soon,

Matt Longjohn
State Representative
House District 40

⚕️National Health Center Week in Michigan

In a rare day back in Lansing, I introduced and passed a resolution declaring Aug. 3-9, 2025, as National Health Center Week in Michigan.

Community Health Centers are the backbone of our health care system, serving over 675,000 Michiganders through more than 450 sites. These centers and the diligent health care workers within them provide critical care to underserved populations and generate over $1.7 billion in economic impact statewide. By recognizing their work, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring every Michigander has access to affordable, high-quality care.

🌐 Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

I recently spent time celebrating the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act with Disability Network Southwest Michigan, touring the Binder Park Zoo and meeting with Discover Kalamazoo to learn more about efforts to boost tourism in our region.
