LANSING, Mich., Jan. 13, 2021 — State Rep. Julie M.Rogers (D-Kalamazoo) was publicly sworn in today as representative for the 2021-2022 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the official opening of Michigan’s 101st Legislature.
“I am lucky to call this community home and I am humbled by the opportunity to represent my friends and neighbors at the Capitol,” said Rogers. “For more than two decades I have worked in health care and this has instilled in me a passion for ensuring everyone has access to the quality care they deserve, especially during the ongoing pandemic. I look forward to working to make that a reality.”
Rep. Rogers is serving her first term representing the 60th House District, which includes the City of Kalamazoo and portions of the City of Portage and Kalamazoo Township. Rogers grew up in Kalamazoo County and later attended Marquette University, earning a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She served on the Kalamazoo County Commission for 8 years, including serving as Board Chair.
