Witwer votes in favor of HB 4469
LANSING, Mich., March 23, 2021— State Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) voted in favor of funding that would support various projects throughout the 71st House District.
“Michigan voters overwhelmingly approved Proposal 1 last year, changing how we fund parks across the state,” Witwer said. “This presents a tremendous opportunity for parks across our state to make critical improvements, including these four projects at home in our communities.”
The fund was established 45 years ago using royalties paid by companies that extract oil and gas from state-owned land. More than $1.2 billion has been spent from the fund over that time to purchase land and improve previously-owned land for the sole purpose of natural resources protection and outdoor recreation. Proposal 1, approved by voters in November 2020, changed how park funding could be used.
HB 4469 appropriates $39.2 million from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, including:
- North Canal Road land acquisition, Eaton County (grant-in-aid to Delta Charter Township), $75,000
- Elmwood Road land acquisition, Eaton County (grant-in-aid to Delta Charter Township), $30,000
- Bunker Road Landing renovations, Eaton County (grant-in-aid to Ingham County), $50,000
- Danford Island Park restroom development, Eaton County (grant-in-aid to village of Dimondale), $126,000
