DETROIT, Mich., Aug. 10, 2021 — Yesterday, Gov. Gretchen Witmer announced more than $2 million in grants were awarded under the MI Clean Water Plan for 15 Michigan cities, villages and townships. This includes $120,000 awarded to the city of Highland Park to assist in planning and rate studies. In response, state Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“In the past several weeks, we have experienced severe and intense flooding that has laid bare the desperate need for updates to our water infrastructure. I am very grateful to Gov. Whitmer for awarding these critical funds to Highland Park for these renovations. I will also continue to work with my colleagues in the Legislature to ensure our community has the support and funding it needs to maintain and improve our water infrastructure.”
