Dear Neighbor, Welcome to my e-newsletter! I’m honored and humbled to serve as our community’s voice at the Capitol in Lansing. 2020 was a year unlike any other; as we continue into the new year and new term, rest assured the challenges families in our community and state are facing are at the top of my legislative priorities. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office by phone at (517) 373-0152 or email at AmosONeal@house.mi.gov if we can help. Sincerely, Amos O’Neal State Representative, 95th House District In this issue:
Upcoming Community Conversation It is not too late to join my first live community conversation. This virtual event starts tonight, Thursday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. I will give a brief update on the committees I serve on, the Supplemental funding bills, the Governor’s Executive Budget Recommendation, an update from our local United Way, and some time for a Q&A so I can hear from you. You can join me either on Zoom by clicking here or on Facebook Live by clicking here or searching @StateRepAmosONeal. I hope to see you there! Legislative Update – Executive Budget Recommendation Last week, Governor Whitmer presented her FY2022 executive budget recommendations. The highlights that she focused on dealt with getting Michigan back to work, getting our kids back in school, expanding skills training, protecting our Great Lakes, addressing this public health crisis, and more. This recommendation offers many strategic one-time investments that will help us through this time and keep our next budget in balance. If you would like more details on this funding, please read the State Budget Office’s complete overview by clicking here. |
