PONTIAC, Mich., Dec. 6, 2021 — Pontiac High School entered a soft lockdown today after being alerted of a copycat threat directed at the school following the mass shooting at Oxford High School that left four students dead and several others injured. Several other local schools have entered similar lockdowns after receiving similar threats. State Rep. Brenda Carter issued the following statement in response to the lockdown:
“The most important thing right now is the safety of the children and staff of Pontiac High School. I have been notified that the sheriff’s department is investigating the threat and that the school is taking all proper precautions. Sheriff officers are currently patrolling the school. I urge all of our community members to remain calm while law enforcement looks into the matter.”
