LANSING, Mich., Dec. 7, 2021 — The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced today that Michigan drivers will receive $400 per vehicle in refunds from the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association. In response, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) issued the following statement:
“Michigan drivers desperately needed auto no-fault reform that put them first. I am proud to live in a state and work in a Legislature that delivered auto insurance relief to families who paid high rates for too long. While I remain committed to fixing some unforeseen loopholes, I applaud Gov. Whitmer, DIFS and MCCA for taking these significant, necessary steps and returning surplus funds back to Michigan drivers.”
