LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues that matter most to Michigan’s working families. In her address, she proposed a repeal of the retirement tax and expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit. In response, State Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) issued the following statement:
“This term I have been fortunate to be a part of the governor’s task force on addressing the needs of the child care industry as well as the task force geared toward school safety. I’m grateful for the governor’s continued focus on improving the lives of Michigan families and small business owners as well her emphasis on bipartisanship. State Rep. Jack O’Malley has been instrumental in leading the task force on child care to success in the House, and we are both honored to be a part of providing relief to struggling families. As we move into the new year, I hope my colleagues will join me in forging a new path for Michigan, one focused on bipartisanship and addressing long-standing issues.”
