LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted her proposals to repair infrastructure, expand skills training and reduce costs for working families. In response, State Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) issued the following statement:
“The governor has laid out a vision that works for the state and works for Saginaw. She’s already brought thousands of great auto manufacturing jobs to the state. I applaud her work to expand skills training through Michigan Reconnect and Future For Frontliners. I am pleased to see her proposals to eliminate the retirement tax and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to make the tax system fairer for our seniors and working Michiganders. I can’t wait to see what else we can accomplish for Michiganders this year.”
