LANSING, Mich., March 14, 2022 — Today, state Rep. Kevin Coleman (D-Westland) and other members of the House Democratic Caucus wrote an open letter to the House Appropriations Committee, urging the members to consider increased infrastructure investment. In the letter, Democrats asked the chair of the committee, state Rep. Thomas Albert (R-Lowell), to join their calls for more infrastructure funding and outlined the various costs that Michigan drivers continue to face due to poor road quality.
“Every year, we continue to ignore the state of our roads and the damage they do to our vehicles,” Coleman said. “It’s time for the Legislature to take a stand and refuse to push these costs further down the line. We can’t rely on hot patch and hope to get us through another spring of potholes and pricey repair bills.”
