LANSING, Mich., June 2, 2022 — Last week, state Rep. Jim Haadsma (D-Battle Creek), along with a panel of guest experts, hosted an infrastructure listening tour stop in Battle Creek. Together, they discussed plans, strategies and solutions to improve and grow local infrastructure. Residents also shared their experiences and concerns. After the event, Haadsma expressed his gratitude in the following statement:
“I am glad to have been part of such a successful infrastructure listening event. It was a productive and helpful opportunity to talk with experts — I want to give a huge thank you to the panelists who graciously gave their time and shared their knowledge. We had the chance to hear from community members as well. Having real discussions about our rivers, roads and structures is absolutely key to figuring out what needs fixing and finding the right solutions. Anyone who wants to keep the infrastructure conversation going, or if you were unable to attend, please reach out — I’m more than happy to discuss and share all the information that was presented.”
Guest panelists included:
- Carl Fedders, P.E., Department of Public Works Director, City of Battle Creek
- Angie Kremer, P.E., Marshall TSC Manager, Michigan Department of Transportation
- Nick Occhipinti, Director of State Government Affairs, Michigan League of Conservation Voters
- Kristine Parsons, P.E., Director of Engineering, Calhoun County Road Department
For those who would like further information or have follow-up questions, comments or concerns for Haadsma or the guest panelists, please feel free to contact the representative’s office.
