HB 5472 – Memorial Highway Bill
Last week, I was pleased to see the passage of my bill out of the Senate Transportation Committee. This bill will amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to dedicate a portion of I-75 in Saginaw County as the “Corporal Deangelo Snow Memorial Highway.”
Spc. Snow joined the service one year after graduating from Buena Vista High School in 2008. He died at the young age of 22 in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan after insurgents attacked his vehicle with a rocket-propelled grenade. He was beloved by so many in our community and had over 500 attendees at his funeral service, including the daughter and classmate of the individual who helped push this legislation, whom Spc. Snow sent a video chat just hours before he died. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his bravery and service.
I hope to see the Senate vote this out on the full floor as soon as possible.
