VIA Motors’ new headquarters brings 300 high-wage jobs to Auburn Hills

PONTIAC, Mich., Oct. 26, 2022 — Michigan continues to make critical investments in electric vehicle manufacturing, establishing the state as the leader in electric vehicles and bringing more high-paying jobs to strengthen the state’s economy. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Strategic Fund announced the latest round of investments yesterday and includes a $2.5 million grant to VIA Motors. VIA Motors is a U.S.-based all-electric commercial original equipment vehicle manufacturer at the forefront of fleet electrification and offers a full portfolio of electric work trucks, from classes 2-5 with a variety of configurations.

“I am thrilled with VIA MOTORS for choosing Auburn Hills as its headquarters,” said state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac). “This will bring 300 good paying jobs to our community and strengthen our state and local economies. It’s further proof that Michigan is the future of electric vehicles.”

VIA chose Michigan because of the state’s robust supply chain for electric vehicles and mobility and its knowledge, talent and leadership in the automotive industry. With an initial total capital investment of $12.3 million, VIA anticipates the facility will provide hundreds of Michiganders with high-wage jobs supported by the $2.5 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.

The city of Auburn Hills plans to support the project through talent attraction and marketing. Individuals interested in careers with VIA should visit www.viamotors.com/via-delivers/careers.
