Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention in Michigan
Battling lead contamination has become a key issue for many constituents, in my district and across the state. It is, therefore, incredibly important that we invest in our communities to combat lead contamination wherever it may arise. Michigan’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program and its leaders have been working to improve systems capable of gathering, storing and reporting on blood lead results for Michigan children; improve clinical case management coordination; provide comprehensive educational events and materials; and conduct community outreach. They are working tirelessly to ensure that the public is educated on the risks and harms of lead contamination and that all children with elevated blood lead levels regardless of insurance status get the care that they need.

Kroger has Started Accepting EBT Payments for Online Orders
If you’re someone with limited time, or you simply like the convenience of picking up your groceries or having them delivered, Kroger has started accepting EBT payments online! If you are a SNAP recipient, use this new system by creating a Kroger account through the app or at Kroger.com. From there, go to “My Account” and “Wallet” and add your EBT account number as a new card. Now you can choose to pick up your groceries or have them delivered right to your door!
Public Health Emergency Information
On May 11, the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration expired. With this expiration comes several changes, most notably Medicaid renewal. Medicaid renewal had been paused under the PHE, but now that it has expired, you may need to reapply for coverage if you have Medicaid, MIChild or the Healthy Michigan Plan. Michigan.gov/MIBridges is the hub for all of these programs, as well as Food Assistance Programs (FAP), Cash Assistance, Child Development and Care (CDC), and State Emergency Relief (SER).
