LANSING, Mich., Oct. 6, 2023 — The Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced the recipients of grant funding through the Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) Program. Senate Bill 7, a mid-year budget bill the Legislature passed in February, funded the grants. The city of New Buffalo will receive $1 million under the Public Space Place-Based Infrastructure category, dedicated to improving infrastructure, public facilities, downtown spaces and more. In response, state Rep. Joey Andrews (D-St. Joseph) issued the following statement:
“This is incredibly exciting and welcome news. I was proud to vote in favor of SB 7 earlier this year, and this money coming back to our area is a direct result. I can’t wait to see how this grant will make New Buffalo an even better place to live, work and play.”
