LANSING, Mich., Feb. 1, 2024 — The first day of February marks the start of Black History Month, which recognizes the many struggles and triumphs of Black communities across the nation. In Washtenaw County this week, three Black-owned businesses were chosen to receive an award of $15,000 each from Hyundai Motor America. State Rep. Jimmie Wilson, Jr. (D-Ypsilanti) was in attendance at the award ceremony. After the event, and in recognition of Black History Month, he issued the following statement:
“This month is about lifting up one another and celebrating successes. I want to congratulate 3N1 Fitness Revolution, A-Square Fight Club and Issa’s Pizza for their amazing business awards. Each of these Black-owned businesses’ impact on Washtenaw County is tremendous, from holistic health and wellbeing, getting fit in the boxing gym, to a space to eat with the family and friends. Lives are being changed through their work and their presence in our community.”
