Funding making its way to distressed communities around the state including River Rouge

LANSING, Mich., April 11, 2024 — The Michigan Treasury announced this week grant funding of $2.8 million awarded to 13 municipalities through the Financially Distressed Cities, Villages and Townships (FDCVT) grant program. River Rouge was among the communities awarded a public safety enhancement grant that will replace the HVAC system in the municipal building. In response to this news, state Rep. Tyrone Carter (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:

“This enhancement to replace the HVAC system in the municipal building will make the lives of workers and residents who access services in the building safer and healthier with better air quality. As an added benefit, this replacement will, ultimately, help with energy efficiency, saving money in the long run. This $170,000 grant for River Rouge is welcome news for the community.”
