Democrats continue building stronger schools in your hometown
LANSING, Mich., May 8, 2024 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its recommended fiscal 2024-25 budget today. It includes substantial investments in Michigan’s public education system, reflecting the commitment House Democrats have pledged to community-building, support, advancement and growth for a strong start to an education for kids. After the vote, state Rep. Regina Weiss (D-Oak Park), chair of the House Appropriations School Aid and Michigan Department of Education Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the budget:
“I’m so proud of the great things we’ve achieved with this budget. We crafted a plan that will free up as much funding as possible to go back into classrooms, where it belongs. This budget makes critical investments to build strong public schools and support students, teachers, districts, and families.”
