LANSING, Mich., May 9, 2024 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its fiscal year 2024-25 budget on Wednesday. It delivers on House Democrats’ commitments to invest in neighborhoods and main streets. With thoughtful investments in students and families, the budget puts people first by funding the issues closest to home. After voting on the budget, state Rep. Natalie Price (D-Berkley) issued the following statement:
“Strong students mean a strong Michigan, and this budget backs up our promise to support Michigan learners. As a mom and educator, I’m especially pleased that our education budget lowers costs to districts and puts more money into classrooms, where it belongs. I’m also grateful that the budget includes funding for secure firearm disposal and grants to local organizations for training and programming on new extreme risk protection orders and safe storage laws. House Dems have laid the policy groundwork to keep our kids and communities safe, and I’m excited to add the financial backing to get the job done.”
