LANSING, Mich., May 17, 2024 — Economists from the House and Senate fiscal agencies and State Budget Office gathered this morning for the second and final Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference for 2024. After the conference, state Rep. Regina Weiss (D-Oak Park), chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on School Aid and Education, issued the following statement:
“Today’s conference highlighted that we are returning to more typical revenue levels when it comes to how schools are funded. As a teacher, mother and legislator, supporting students and educators is my highest priority. Schools are the heart of our hometowns and put our kids on the path to successful futures. We will continue making smart decisions to help lower costs for schools and put more money in the classroom, where it belongs.”
