LANSING, Mich., July 23, 2024 — State Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) received the Milliken Award from Safe & Just Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to criminal justice reform.

The Milliken Award is named after former Michigan Gov. William Milliken, who served the state from 1969-1983. After supporting a tough-on-crime agenda early in his career, Milliken later supported criminal justice reform and advocated for bipartisan solutions that prevent crime and address root causes.

“I am truly honored to be selected for this award from Safe & Just Michigan,” O’Neal said. “I have always been a staunch advocate for criminal justice reform and will continue to work in the Legislature to achieve a more just criminal justice system that serves all Michiganders.”

O’Neal will be presented with the award on Sept. 26 at Safe & Just Michigan’s annual event.
