Arbit secures direct state investments in West Bloomfield for first time in decades

LANSING, Mich. – After a marathon 19-hour session on June 27th, the Michigan Legislature passed the state budget for Fiscal Year 2025. State Representative Noah Arbit (D-West Bloomfield) advocated for and secured a record $3 million in state investments for Michigan’s 20th House District in the FY 2025 budget, delivering funding for vital projects and programs in West Bloomfield, one year after securing $1.6 Million for Commerce and Keego Harbor.

  • Arbit secured a $1,000,000 community museum grant for the Chaldean Cultural Center, supporting the expansion and relocation of the state-of-the-art museum.

  • Arbit also secured an $800,000 infrastructure grant to replace the failing Greer Road bridge in northern West Bloomfield. The bridge serves nearly 700 people in the Zox-Cass Lakeside neighborhood, but can no longer safely support emergency vehicles, posing health and safety risks to residents, visitors, and first responders.

  • Arbit also secured a $1,200,000 grant for Jewish Family Service of Metro Detroit, a social service organization based in West Bloomfield that supports community members, including seniors, with mental health, wellness, transportation, and meals.

Additionally Rep. Arbit supported the following appropriations in the FY 2025 state budget:

  • $4,000,000 public safety grant to the Jewish Federation community security program, which helps defray the costs of securing synagogues and other Jewish institutions across Metro Detroit in a time of rapidly increasing threats.

  • $1,500,000 community museum grant to the Zekelman Holocaust Center.

“I ran for this office because I was tired of watching our community sidelined from policymaking conversations in Lansing,” Rep. Noah Arbit said. “I am proud to bring our community’s voice to a state budget that reflects our values and priorities — not only by supporting families, kids, and seniors, but also making significant, forward-thinking investments in critical programs and projects right here in the heart of West Bloomfield.”

“Our small community [in northern West Bloomfield] has enormous infrastructure needs,” said Chris LaDuke, Cass Lakeside Community Association board member. “While other elected officials have been supportive of our efforts to replace 100+ year-old failing infrastructure, Noah has truly been invested. Because of this funding, the Greer Road bridge – which services 70% of residents in our community – will be rebuilt to modern standards, ensuring fire trucks and other public safety services can reach our community. Representative Arbit and his team set the standard for public service and our entire community is grateful for their work on our behalf.”
