HAZEL PARK, Mich., Jan. 17, 2025 — In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national holiday established to honor the civil rights leader’s transformative work and enduring legacy, state Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) issued the following statement:
“On Monday, we’ll honor Dr. King’s legacy of justice, equality, and peace. This day is not only a time for remembrance, but also an important day of service. Dr. King believed in the power of individuals coming together to serve their communities. Through acts of service, we continue his work toward a more just and inclusive society. True progress is made when we come together to serve others. Our goal should be to uplift those in need and build a stronger, more unified community for all. Let us commit to advancing his dream by fostering unity, compassion, and understanding in all we do.”
