I am committed to holding the line and fighting for what Michigan residents actually need to make people’s lives better. Health, education, and housing are core needs for everybody. I will fight to protect funding for these basic human needs. I will fight for access to healthcare, adequately funding K-12 schools and public colleges, and truly affordable housing options. Happy Juneteenth!
Today, we mark a significant milestone in our nation's history. Juneteenth, a federal holiday, is a day for all to recognize the forced enslavement of Black people in the United States and to commemorate the end of that system of violence and exploitation. So, let us reflect, enjoy, celebrate, and continually be inspired to keep moving forward.

The Michigan House Democrats unveiled our proposed education budget, which includes $3.2 billion more than FY 2025 to fund our K-12 schools. Investing in schools, feeding our kids, and funding programs like Great Start Readiness is crucial. I'm proud of the House Democrats' plan because it ensures we pay our bills without cutting essential education funding.
After 40 years of Republican disinvestment, House Dems' Education Vision is building kids up.
House Dems won't let our kids be left behind.

I will do everything I can to help get water affordability legislation passed this year.
"First-term state Rep. Tonya Myers Phillips, who represents Hamtramck, Highland Park and parts of Detroit, says water affordability is a moral issue. Water shutoffs disproportionately effect low-income families, seniors and communities of color, Myers Phillips said. These are the same communities that already bear the brunt of environmental injustices.”
It is an honor to collaborate with community members and lawmakers to secure humane solutions all Michiganders need and deserve.
