Thank you to everyone who attended our annual senior town hall and resource fair last night at the Pittsfield Township Senior Center. It was wonderful meeting everyone and talking about issues that matter most to our community.
Special thanks to my colleagues Representatives Carrie Rheingans and Jimmie Wilson, as well as Pittsfield Supervisor Trish Reilly for joining me in answering everyone's questions.
And I am especially grateful for all the participants who provided their resources and expertise for this event. And even more grateful for the work they do for our communities.

New federal Republican Medicaid requirements are creating more red tape and putting healthcare at risk for thousands of eligible Michiganders. That’s why my Democratic colleagues and I fought to include funding in Michigan’s budget for additional MDHHS staff, community health workers, and job support services to help people keep the coverage they qualify for.
Everyone deserves quality, affordable healthcare. I’ll keep fighting to remove these barriers until all Michiganders can get the primary, preventative, and specialized care they need. For more information about the upcoming Medicaid changes, visit www.michigan.gov/healthymiplan or contact your local MDHHS office.

As smoke from Canadian wildfires moves through Michigan, our air quality is expected to remain at very unhealthy to hazardous levels through Friday.
If you can, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, keep your windows closed, and watch for symptoms like coughing, wheezing, or irritated eyes and throat. Individuals with asthma, heart or lung conditions, older adults, and young children should take extra precautions.
