◆ Official Swearing-In for my 2nd Term
It was an honor to be sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden for my second term, joined by my parents Dr. Steve and Edie Arbit. For my second term, my promise to you, the people of West Bloomfield, Commerce, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake, Sylvan Lake, and Bloomfield remains the same as it always has: to wake up every day and work my heart out to represent you and your family with faith and fidelity. I won’t promise perfection, but whether we agree or disagree on a given issue, I promise to listen to your perspective, consider your views, and respond to your needs.
◆ Gov. Whitmer signs my Canvassing Integrity Act into law!
Anyone who violates Michigan election law to undermine or interfere with our democracy has no business serving in a position to oversee our elections, let alone certify results. I introduced the Canvassing Integrity Act to ensure that they won’t. The Canvassing Integrity Act prevents anyone convicted of an election crime from serving as a member of the Board of State Canvassers or a county board of election canvassers, which oversee and certify elections. This bill is a critical effort in my ongoing commitment to strengthening our democracy in Michigan.
◆ Committees for the 103rd Legislature
I am excited to continue as a member of the Natural Resources Committee this term, where I will prioritize efforts to protect our inland lakes here in Greater West Bloomfield and Commerce.
The Communications and Technology Committee is a new committee, and I am excited to dig in and learn about how we can utilize digital platforms to deliver improved government services to Michiganders, as well as ensure the safety of our state with respect to advances in AI.
The Latest from the Lakes
◆ Celebrating WBPD Chief Mike Patton
On Friday, January 10th, I had the privilege of joining our West Bloomfield community in honoring Chief Mike Patton and congratulating him on his well-earned retirement. Chief Patton has faithfully served the West Bloomfield Police Department and our community for four decades, and has left a lasting legacy of integrity, sacrifice, passion and transparency. We will miss him deeply as our Chief, but we also congratulate him on being appointed as a West Bloomfield Township Trustee!
◆ Doherty Students Visit Lansing
In late December, Senator Bayer and I got to welcome 3rd Graders from Doherty Elementary in West Bloomfield to the State Capitol, and they even got the rare, behind-the-scenes visit to the House floor (only allowed if a representative is escorting!). Rosemary and I loved chatting with the kiddos about state government and our commitment to fighting for West Bloomfield!
Upcoming Events
Join me for my first “Nosh with Noah” community conversation of the year at the West Bloomfield Public Library! These conversations are also your best opportunity to discuss your views about issues impacting you or your family directly with me. All are welcome to join!
