LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session tonight. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of more looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) issued the following statement:

“A people focused approach should always be a top priority of the work we do at the Capitol, and tonight’s address highlighted peoples’ stories and needs. Michiganders want relief; they want to live a life that they choose without worrying about scarce access to housing or how to pay for childcare. We must keep Michiganders at the forefront of what we do, and I certainly will continue to raise my voice and introduce policies that do just that. Tonight was a good reminder of our values and we must cling to them.”
