State Rep. Jason Hoskins (D-Southfield) and Mayor of the City of Farmington, Joe LaRussa attend the State of the State Address on the House floor at the Capitol in Lansing on Feb. 26, 2025.
LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session tonight. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of more looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Jason Hoskins (D-Southfield) issued the following statement:
“I’m happy to have had one of the mayors from my district here tonight as my guest, Farmington Mayor Joe LaRussa. It is important that all levels of government work together and as a former Southfield city council member, I know firsthand our local governments are no exception. The address focused on this collaboration and unity. Key issues that Michiganders are concerned about are lowering energy costs, promoting affordability and ensuring our kids are on track. The governor stood before us today to address these concerns and shared her plan to build up a better Michigan. I can’t wait to come together to implement good policies that tackle Michigander concerns.”
