BELLEVILLE, Mich., April 1, 2025 — The Trump-Musk Administration has removed nearly $42 million in pre-approved project reimbursements among 27 school districts in Michigan. These school districts were slated to be reimbursed for these projects that focused on improving infrastructure. Among those school districts is Van Buren Public Schools and investments of $90,000. In response to this decision, state Rep. Reggie Miller (D-Van Buren Twp) issued the following statement:
“It is reckless and irresponsible to revoke previously approved funding for essential building infrastructure upgrades to our schools. At a time when our education system and schools are under constant threat of losing funding, it’s important to stand up for what’s right for the good of our children. I think we can all agree that our kids deserve to be able to learn in buildings that are fully functional. Revoking investments for these upgrades is unconscionable, and I call on the federal government to reverse this decision that hurts our kids and schools.”
