LANSING, Mich., April 24, 2025 — State Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit) joined her Senate and House Democratic colleagues today at a press conference which highlighted the work they’re doing together to lower prescription drug costs for everyday Michiganders. The event followed the Senate’s vote on critical legislation, Senate Bills 3, 4 and 5, to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Michigan and preceded the House introduction of their companion legislation. After the press conference, Scott released the following statement:

“Michigan families shouldn’t have to choose between stocking up the pantry and accessing life-saving medicines, all while corporate profits soar. House and Senate Dems are taking action, while Republicans are threatening Medicaid at the federal level and trying to defund health care here in Michigan. Reports show health care prices are on the rise, outpacing inflation. This package of bills is meant to give breathing room to Michiganders and peace of mind knowing they can afford their medications.”
