State Rep. Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit) sits on a committee on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Anderson House Office Building in Lansing.
LANSING, Mich., April 29, 2025 — State Rep. Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit) is a sponsor of bills in the Taking Back Our Power legislative package that was recently introduced in the House. This package aims to block Michigan utilities and major government contractors from making political donations. After the package was introduced, McKinney released the following statement:
“The introduction of this legislation marks a turning point in our fight to restore integrity and fairness to Michigan’s political system. We cannot allow companies to continue to buy influence and escape accountability. This is about standing up for the everyday Michiganders who deserve a government that works for them, not for powerful contractors and corporations.”
