Upcoming Events

  • ART on the GRAND
    • Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • This is an art festival taking place along Grand River Ave. in downtown Farmington.
  • Memorial Day Parade
    • Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m.
    • The parade starts at Meadowbrook Commons and goes along 10 Mile Road to the Civic Center.
  • Free Summer Concert Series
    • Various dates and locations. Learn more at the city of Farmington Hills Special Services Department website.
    • This is a series of performances in Farmington Hills throughout the summer that are free to the public. To attend, you must register in advance at the link above. Currently only the first concert is available, but others will show up as we get closer to July.

 

Legislative Update

Earlier this month, I introduced legislation to allow the 13 counties with independent retirement boards to rehire county retirees in a full time capacity, without those retirees forfeiting their existing retirement packages. Currently, those counties are prohibited from rehiring retirees and allowing them to return full-time. There are no similar restrictions applied to individuals who retire from schools, cities, villages, townships or the state.

Additionally, my staff and I are working on legislation that would address issues within the guardianship system. Keep an eye on future updates to hear more about that.
