LANSING, Mich., May 29, 2025 — A recent MIRS news poll found state Rep. Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn) was voted the most effective Democratic legislator in the Michigan House. This award comes after his first two years in office, during which several of his bills were signed into law, including legislation that establishes a statewide innovation fund for Michigan entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as bills to increase access to transit in Wayne County and reduce prescription drug costs across the state. This year, Farhat has taken on a significant leadership role, serving as the Minority Vice Chair on the House Appropriations committee. He has also led the charge on legislation to create a Public Safety and Violence Prevention Fund in Michigan, which passed out of the House last month. Following the results of the poll, Farhat released the following statement:

“I’m grateful every day to have the hardest-working team by my side – showing up, putting in the work, and helping me deliver for the residents of the 3rd District and the entire state. I appreciate the recognition of the work that we have done and look forward to all that we’ll accomplish together throughout the rest of the term.”
