State Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) speaks on the House floor at the Capitol building in Lansing.
HAZEL PARK, Mich., June 27, 2025 — Today, the U.S Supreme Court in Kennedy v. Braidwood Management upheld a requirement that preventive medical services recommended under the Affordable Care Act must be provided to patients at no cost. Following the Court’s decision, state Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) issued the following statement:
“Today’s 6–3 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the Affordable Care Act’s preventive services requirement is a huge victory for public health and for families right here in Michigan.
“Thanks to this decision, Michiganders will continue to have access to no-cost preventive care like cancer screenings, blood pressure checks, mental health services, and HIV prevention medication. These are the kinds of services that catch illness early, save lives, and reduce health care costs for everyone in the long run.
“As a state legislator, I’m committed to protecting and expanding access to affordable, high-quality health care. Today’s Supreme Court decision is a reminder of what’s at stake, and why we must keep working to ensure every Michigander can get the care they need without breaking the bank.”
