Extreme Heat Support Resources
As we continue to see dangerously high temperatures across Michigan, please see below for information about available cooling centers and resources.

Livonia
The City of Livonia hosts a cooling center at the Kirksey Recreation Center, 15100 Hubbard St., Livonia, MI 48154. Residents may use this facility as a cooling center during its operating hours. The Rec is open Monday-Friday: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Livonia Senior Wellness Center is also used as a cooling center during normal operating hours. The Center is open Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and is closed on Friday, July 3.
Redford
Residents can visit the Redford Township Community Center, located at 12121 Hemingway St., Redford Twp., MI 48239, during normal business hours. Hours for the summer are Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Community Center will be closed Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6 for the holiday weekend.
Residents may also use the Redford Police Department lobby as a cooling center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between June 30–July 3.
Redford Township will also be able to provide ride assistance for seniors and those who are disabled during normal DAR business hours as space is available. Operating hours are Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call 313-387-2770 to schedule a ride. Please note DAR will be closed for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
Detroit
Residents can visit a Detroit Recreation Center or Public Library Branch during normal business hours. Click here to see a full list of the recreation centers and their hours. Click here for details about hours of operation at individual library branches.
Older Adults:
The Detroit Area Agency on Aging is able to support older adults during periods of extreme heat. If you or someone you know needs assistance, you may contact them at 313-446-4444.
