LANSING — Following a wave of extreme anti-abortion legislation recently introduced in states across the U.S., a National Day of Action was declared to demonstrate support for the constitutional right of women to access reproductive health care. In observance of the National Day of Action yesterday, co-chairs of the Women’s Health Task Force of the Progressive Women’s Caucus, Reps. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township) and Rebekah Warren (D-Ann Arbor), issued the following statement:
“This nationwide, coordinated attack on reproductive health care should frighten and enrage every American. Constitutionally-protected rights are being threatened by elected officials across the country and even right here in Michigan, and we cannot sit idly by and let this happen. Reproductive health care is central to a woman’s overall health and well-being, as well as the health and well-being of families across the state. Elected officials have no place coming between a woman and her doctor during conversations about informed medical decisions. We must stand together and take action to stop these bans.”
