ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Oct. 31, 2025 — Michigan has secured a multi-billion-dollar investment from OpenAI, Oracle and Related Digital to develop the Stargate data center campus in Saline Township. The project is expected to create more than 2,500 union construction jobs, over 450 permanent high-skill jobs on site and 1,500 additional positions across the county. This transformative investment was made possible in part by the passage of bipartisan House Bill 4906, sponsored by State Rep. Joey Andrews (D-St. Joseph), which provides incentives for tech companies to locate data centers in Michigan.

After the announcement, Andrews issued the following statement:

“House Bill 4906, which I sponsored, is helping Michigan compete for high-tech investments and build the next generation of digital infrastructure to attract major companies. That vision is now becoming reality with OpenAI, Oracle and Related Digital choosing Michigan for the Stargate project, the largest investment in our state’s history.

“This project will create thousands of good-paying jobs, strengthen local economies and position Michigan as a national leader in AI and advanced technology. I am proud that our bipartisan legislation is delivering real results. It is giving communities across the state a chance to share in the economic opportunities of this growing industry and ensuring Michigan remains a hub for innovation and opportunity.”
