Clemente Commends Repairs to Ford Avenue Railroad Crossing
LANSING — State Rep. Cara Clemente (D-Lincoln Park) is proud to see that work is being done on the Canadian National railroad crossing on Ford Avenue between 5th and 6th streets. Ford Avenue was closed Dec. 1 for crossing repairs. At some point in 2018, the railway will provide a more permanent fix to the crossing.
“These repairs have been a long time coming, and I’m glad to see work is finally beginning,” Clemente said. “While this is only the first step, this is progress that will make the crossing much better for drivers.”
Clemente and local officials have been working to with Canadian National to undertake the repairs. In the middle of November, there was an effort for citizens of Wyandotte to call the Canadian National to get the crossing fixed.
“A huge thank you should be extended to all parties who helped get a commitment from Canadian National for this much-needed repair,” Wyandotte Mayor Joseph Peterson said. “Without the perseverance of our residents, and the initiative of state and local officials, we may still be waiting on a response. Hopefully this is just the start of the railroad’s efforts to meet its responsibility to provide safe crossings.”
