LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues facing Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement:

“My highest priorities when I decided to run for office was ensuring our families’ water was safe, our air was clean and our communities are freed of contamination. Gov. Whitmer’s address tonight only reinforced my resolve and the people of Michigan should be assured that they have a strong advocate fighting for them in Lansing to not only protect our environment, but to rebuild our infrastructure, improve our schools and provide affordable health care to all Michigan families. It is clear that Gov. Whitmer puts the people of Michigan first, and I look forward to working with her and community partners like Ms. Wozniak to ensure a brighter future for the families of our state.”

Rep. Hood was joined by League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Lisa Wozniak for the address. Under Ms. Wozniak’s leadership, the nonpartisan political organization is committed to protecting Michigan’s land, air and water.
