Hood Sworn in as Representative for 76th House District
LANSING — State Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) was sworn in officially today as representative for the 76th House District for the 2019-2020 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 100th Legislature. Rep. Hood is serving her first term serving the 76th District, which covers a large section of the city of Grand Rapids. She was joined at the ceremony by her family, friends and supporters.
“With a new Legislature and new administration, the people of Grand Rapids and families across the state have the chance for a new beginning,” Rep. Hood said. “I am ready to work with my colleagues to prioritize policies that put everyday Michiganders first, like protecting our water, ensuring equal access to economic opportunity and adequately supporting schools. Our families and communities are counting on us and I am excited to get started.”
Rep. Hood is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College and spent a decade as the executive director of the West Michigan Environmental Action Council where she helped develop stormwater asset management strategies, watershed education programs and innovative clean energy policies for the city of Grand Rapids.
